Few legends in the world of Artix Entertainment shine as darkly as Dage the Evil. What started as a player's burning passion for AQWorlds transformed into an artistic odyssey, elevating Dage from fan artist to one of the most renowned creators in AQW and AQ3D history—and soon AQWorlds: Infinity! He stands as the Dark Lord of the Undead Legion, forging weapons, armor, artifacts, and even HeroMart merch that always leave players in awe!

Dage’s journey began like many players: totally obsessed with AQWorlds! But he wasn’t just another fan; Dage’s love for the game drove him to create fanart that first captured the attention of Artix back in 2010.
A year later, Dage was crushing it in AQW’s Player Suggestion Shop, crafting the iconic dark brooding aesthetic of the Undead Legion before it was even a thing! Back then, you couldn’t even upload pics to Twitter, so he turned to the old-school Battleon Forums to showcase his work.
His art was so jaw-droppingly good and quickly became a favorite amongst players (and game devs, too!), paving the path to AQW’s MVP status.
What happens when you take an immensely talented artist and give him the keys to the underworld? You get the birth of the Undead Legion! First as an apprentice to Nulgath, Dage honed his unique craft, eventually earning a spot as a full-fledged artist for AQWorlds. He became known for his intricate armor sets, wickedly detailed weapons, and signature black & blue aesthetic that made even pink-lovers such as myself envious of such killer looks!
Dark Caster Class, anyone? That’s always been my personal favorite, and I’m sure there are countless* others who adore the Dark Caster as much as I do! The Undead Legion was no longer just a faction… it became a movement, fueled by the community’s love for Dage’s work!
*Countless? Try 7,611 Dark Caster devotees 🤯 Wow! And that’s JUST for the Dark Caster Class in AQWorlds! I totally had the team check the numbers :p
And in the world of Lore, Dage’s rise was just as legendary. Once a gifted necromancer, he sought power beyond mortal limits, forging a pact that granted him command over an unstoppable undead army. Knowing Nulgath was aware of his growing strength, Dage placed a portion of his soul in a Legendary armor, ensuring his survival no matter the outcome. He challenged Nulgath, his former master, for supremacy, proving that his strength—and his unwavering Legion followers—would endure for eternity.
Suffice to say, Dage's skill grew at an astonishing rate, and it wasn’t long before the competition between the two artists intensified. What started as friendly artistic development soon turned into a full-blown rivalry—one that our players couldn’t help but notice. And once they did, they eagerly fueled the flames, taking sides and debating vehemently who reigned supreme.
Ofc, there’s nothing wrong with appreciating and admiring the art styles of Dage & Nulgath—hecc, it’s something the team all did back then, and continues doing today! Their styles were different yet equally impressive, each bringing something unique to the table and battlefield.
And while the rivalry may have seemed fierce on the surface, beneath it all, there was always a deep level of mutual respect and admiration between them <3
…buuuuut don’t let them hear you say that too loudly! Acknowledging their camaraderie would absolutely ruin the whole “rivalry” thing they’ve got going 🤫
Now, Dage’s artistic reign extends beyond AQWorlds and has spilled over into AQ3D, where he continues to forge fantastic weapons and ominous armors. His creations remain a must-have for Legion followers, with every new piece oozing his signature dark energy.
From weapons wreathed in blue flames to armor sets that strike fear into the bravest of heroes, Dage’s work continues to define the aesthetic of darkness in Artix Entertainment games.
It’s hard to say which of Dage’s creations are the best, since players all across socials are pouring in screenshots of their favorite Legion gear!
So much variety in each screenie (and gif :p), which just goes to show how insanely talented Dage truly is.
To this day, Dage’s Legionnaires continue to pledge their loyalty in exchange for forbidden power—and seriously good looks, ngl.
Dage went from devoted AQWorlds fan to the legendary artist behind the Undead Legion, forging items and armors that have defined an entire faction both in-game and IRL!
His passion and skill have shaped the games’ identity, inspiring legions of players and artists alike to follow their dreams—even if it’s swathed in skull bones and blue flames.
Every year, his birthday isn’t just a day… it’s a month-long celebration, bringing forth some of the most coveted items in AE history!
In both AQW and AQ3D, the Undead Legion celebrates their master’s power with renewed devotion, as new items and weapons emerge from his forge.
